ABOUT

Perth Forensic Cleaner - Lekeisha Herbert

Hello, my name is Lekeisha and I am a Forensic Cleaner based in Perth.

I graduated from Murdoch University with a bachelor’s degree in criminology, and am certified in trauma cleaning, hoarder property clean up and drug lab remediation. I have been in the forensic cleaning industry since October 2020. It has always been my intention to turn my passion of being of service to others into a thriving business and my dream career. Subsequently, on the 19th of November 2021 I started my own business: Above and Beyond Forensic Cleaning.

Why do I do this?

One of my greatest rewards is seeing the transformation in a customer's lifestyle and well-being, as well as, the final result of a meticulous clean, especially when on-going maintenance cleaning results in the opportunity to build a relationship with the customer.

When I get to know my customer well and the foundation of trust has been established it opens up the cleaning process to be tailored to the customer’s needs. On hoarding and filth cleans this also allows me to teach the customer how to implement some basic lifestyle disciplines such as putting clothes with holes in the bin, disposing of out-of-date food prior to putting the new food in, etc.

Sadly, after the body of the deceased has been removed, their loved ones are left to deal with the often messy, smelly, traumatic and potentially infectious blood, tissue and other possibly infectious materials (OPIM) to clean up. I ensure that the scene is correctly decontaminated and that customers can assure that no potentially triggering remnants remain.

As a forensic cleaner, I am proud to be able to bring a compassionate, supportive and extremely thorough cleaning service to my customers in their time of grief.  I acknowledge and respect that when it is required for me to organise and clean the house of the deceased, I am given the unique privilege of learning about who they were as a person and their interests through their belongings. It makes the clean more personnel as it is an emotional process.

Every job I go into I see an opportunity to provide the customer with a fresh slate not only in the immediate environment but also to heal from trauma.

Safety & Goals

Safety of both the client and the business is of the highest priority to ABFC.

As qualified forensic cleaners, every job is entered into with the mind set of universal precaution, which means you enter with the mindset that the blood or OPIM is infectious for all blood borne pathogens. Risk management plans, PPE, training courses and the use of effective, high-quality equipment and products enables the safest possible work environment to be achieved. I have a wide range of experience from decontaminating (HIV) blood, faeces and saliva from police lockup cells to cleaning unattended death scenes.

I aim to achieve a harmonious work environment. The physical and mental wellbeing of ABFC employees is of upmost importance and supportive actions are continuously being implemented to achieve this.
